OLD TRIVIA

Visited my second and former residence (above) for the second time since I moved out at the end of September and had a nice chat with the landlord’s husband. It was a sunny Saturday and we mostly talked about jobs and the mountains. The neighbourhood - which has similarities to the first place I lived in when I moved to Vancouver (below) - is so different than where I currently live (third image) - which is on a main road, and central to just about everything. In Kits and South Granville, one finds houses and not apartments and a fair bit of quietude.

I liked Kits for its proximity to the water/beaches and how close it was to work. South Granville, not so much. I lived there primarily because I had to (it was difficult having to find a place without seeing it first, likewise no landlord wants to rent to someone they can’t meet first). It was a nice place, but the higher powers were occasionally difficult. Last week, while browsing a classifieds board during lunch, my eye immediately dove to an ad bearing the image of front facade and backyard that first place! How could I forget - it was the same image I saw when I applied to live there in 2008. Oh, good old Connie, still trying to find someone to live there (rent has since increased $10, but I must note that it is pricey for a place you have to share with two others and that doesn’t have a real kitchen - however, you do get your own bathroom and the bedroom is spacious). Anyway, seeing our hydro bill this month - I am ecstatic to see how little we are paying compared to last year. Cannot. Complain.
